Dot Medical became the distributor of the Baylis RF needle. First use in the UK occurred in London this month. By connecting the needle to the Baylis RF generator, 2 seconds of RF energy is delivered to the needle tip which rests against the septal wall. This is enough energy to allow the needle to slip through to the left atrium without exerting any pressure on the needle making it a very safe option particularly when passing the needle through tough fibrosed septal walls.
