Dot Medical launched the Amigo at the HRC meeting in Birmingham with a helping hand from Boston Scientific who provided space on their stand. The Amigo, which allows Electrophysiologists to operate from outside the cath lab, was used throughout the meeting to demonstrate the simplicity and ease with which a catheter can be manipulated in to an artificial coronary sinus. The Amigo can now be used with EP Catheters manufactured by Boston Scientific and Biosense-Webster and will accommodate catheters from other manufacturers next year. 

Electrophysiologists spend many hours of each day standing in a radio-active environment wearing heavy lead aprons for protection and it is well known in the EP community that this work environment can lead to back problems or worse. The Amigo allows the operator to spend most of the procedure time in the Control Room, outside of this relatively hostile work environment in a seated position without wearing a lead apron. In addition, the relative closeness of the operator to the fluoro monitors in the Control Room and the features of the Remote Control allows the operator to work more precisely than can be achieved standing by the bedside.
