LifeVest useage expands in the UK...

Picture
Although the LIfeVest has been used in the UK for nearly ten years, the indications for use have nearly always related to temporary protection whilst waiting for an implantable cardiovertor defibrillator. The reason for the waiting period has more often than not  been related to an underlying infection which needs to be cleared before implanting an ICD. More recently the LifeVest has been used on patients with temporary cardiomyopathies who previously may have received an ICD. Once the cardiomyopathy has been resolved the ICD is largely redundent which makes the LifeVest an attractive alternative. [November 2009] More info...
